Some Pros and Cons of iPads for ELT

Some Pros and Cons of iPads for ELT | Teaching Trends | Scoop.it

From a quick comparison of these two lists it may well look like the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages, but those disadvantages are BIG, especially the cost. If you are thinking of introducing iPads in your school, then I think by far the best way to start is just by having a few in the teachers’ staff room and letting the teachers explore them and see what they can do with them. If this can generate some enthusiasm then you could be on your way to having a 21st century language school.

Free Technology for Teachers: VideoNotes - A Great Tool for Taking Notes While Watching Academic Videos | Teaching Trends | Scoop.it
tom jackson's curator insight, April 23, 8:02 AM

One of the great things about using a classroom video is that it requires attention from students to increase their enjoyment of the media.  Also, it is a story and as such is best told withiout interrupting with verbal questions.  Here is a way to infuse the two together, asking questions while allowing the video to be watched uninterrupted.

QR Codes for Sight Words: Attaching audio files - Technology In Early Childhood | Teaching Trends | Scoop.it

First I needed to find a website that would let me record an audio file online and store it at a particular URL.  There are many sites that do this, but I needed a little something extra.  I needed the site that I found to automatically play the audio file once the user scanned the QR code.
